Is your new puppy destroying the house? Is your dog bouncing around in the car while you drive? We have the answers to this dilemma. Browse through our dog crates and choose the style that appeals.
Offer your puppy a bone to chew on when he goes in his dog crate and he will be forever grateful. Dog crates are essential when you purchase a new puppy. They provide a safe place while you work, where he/she won't get into something that will injure. A dog crate also is like a "den" where the puppy can go if he/she wants a place to sleep and get away from the activity of children. If you pick up puppy directly from the dog crate and take him/her outside for a pee, as soon as puppy awakens, you will be on your way to housebreaking. Check out our dog crates, and be sure to measure carefully for a good fit. A dog crate should allow for the puppy to have room to grow. Be sure it is at least twice the length of your puppy and twice as high and your dog crate might just last until puppy is housebroken.
When buying a crate for your dog, you need to consider a number of things. Is your dog a chewer? Is your dog upset when locked up in a dog crate, and tries to scratch his way out? Is your dog crate primarily for housebreaking your puppy, or is it to use while traveling? A soft-side dog crate is perfect for using in the motel when you are traveling, but is not the best for housebreaking, or for the puppy that does not like to be confined. In these two cases, buy a wire dog crate. If you plan to enroll your puppy in obedience or other performance sports, a soft-sided dog crate is ideal for this activity as this type of dog crate is light, easy to carry, and packs in your vehicle along with your luggage. You may want a wire dog kennel to leave in your vehicle to keep your dog safe while you travel, or a pet car seat instead of a dog crate. Collapsible dog crates are the most convenient if you travel and need to take an extra crate with you.
